ASTERIX WORLD TOUR

Have a listen to this. If you're not familiar with Classical music you may not recognise this melody until you reach about the forty-five second mark. Anyways the reason for my sharing this with you today is to inform you all of my newest musical protegee. It's a bird. Yup. My new Blue Quaker called Asterix. They're amazingly intelligent little creatures that live up to forty years of age and are reknown for learning large vocabularies that they invariably use in context. Apart from that skill they are very agile singers...not unlike the colouratura soprano heard in the Mozart aria posted here today. Asterix can already imitate one of the rapid passages after only two days of training. I must admit the idea came from surfing about YouTube looking for singing parrots when I stumbled upon this. It's a cockatiel (an intelligent creature but nothing compared to the Quaker) singing the same aria. I'm confident Asterix is up to the challenge and then some. In the near future look out for the T-shirt and 2010 world tour!

Congrats on the new bird. Have you checked out Alex the Grey Parrot? Bird brain isn't the insult I thought it was.

Does he have a large, dumb friend who goes by the name Obelix?

Good luck with the training. If they can teach Lady Gaga to squawk in something approximating key (well near enough for Autotune) it shouldn't be that tricky training an actual bird.

ABE: Obelix was the second contenter in the name stakes honey.

BANG: That is one cool bird. Shall comment further tomoz.

YOB: Thankfully my Asterix refuses to wear high-waisted pants.

BANG: Thank you so much for introducing me to Alex. It makes me determined to challenge my Asterix!

My pleasure Nat, I heard about him on the RRRs (post mortem unfortunately). But I did find him fascinating. Remember if your family gives you grief threaten to get a cocky, tie it to your will and you've got a hundred year revenge ;)

Those Blue Quakers are pretty-I'm not a huge pet bird person though (although I do like the lorrikeets we have at the zoo here). I do look forward to hearing the new bird sing the aria, though. Rock us, Amadeus!

BANG: That radio station sounds like my kinda wireless!

YANKEE: Some Falco wouldn't go astray...mmmmmmm.

ABE: ContenDer...ahem.

Hmmm..cockateils..got four of the feathered littel fkrs....and dont they go fucking oFF!.

You will enjoy it, I would never admit to such a thing as long as my arse points to the ground.

And just in case it all goes shit shaped, if ya release them about mid may its quail season, paint them brown first and they might get disposed off for ya..but then again..maybe ya might want to keep him, her it!.

You're training your bird to do that to you? Aww, come on! What about a bit of Barnesy? I reckon a Blue Quaker belting out "Cheap Wine" would be brilliant!

Steve said...

If you do get a second one, you will name it Obelix, right? Then you can have them duet!

And hopefully this bird is not eating your house?

Natalia the Russian Spy said...

STEVE: I'd consider Cacofonix too! (fuck that's a piece of brilliance right there...particularly as he couldn't sing!)

FLINT: Hehehe. Did I mention that I'm also teaching him Mna Mna from the Muppets? Now that's lowbrow. Can't have a bird with pretensions!

HAVOCK: Indeed they do my friend...indeed they do. Unfortunately when Audrey my cockatiel is in heat she constantly beckons me from her cage and it's starting to set off Asterix. I can see this is going to be a problem once a month...BTW effing awesome to see you.

Hmm wonder what would happen if you got some voice recog software andleft the PC on all day with the blue thing nearby. Mayhap a proteo No 1?

Of course you'll have to be careful that the bird does not get better reviews than yourself on Youtube!!

your cockatiel is a lesbian??

Steve said...

Can you teach it the Chicken Dance, or Roll Out The Barrel?

Natalia the Russian Spy said...

STEVE: Some German beer hall polkas wouldn't go astray...!

ID: Ahem. Silly man! No she's beckoning for me to let her out of the cage so she can make a nest in the washing basket...or any where else where she can hide....lesbian! Get away with you ;-)

CHAZ: Now there's a thought. Brilliance.

Natalia the Russian Spy said...

ID: Though the male bird Heathrow is a paedophile however...

If a Pole wins the next Nobel prize in Physics, I'll believe Armegeddon is upon us.

Nat, seriously, if you get your bird to sing "Freebird," that video will win serious folding money on those Funniest Video shows.
